St. Blasien Cathedral

The St. Blasius Cathedral in the Black Forest in germany, known for its impressive dome with a diameter of over 36 meters, is an outstanding example of early classical architecture. The church was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1768 and is now an important landmark in the middle of the Black Forest and is one of the largest domed churches in the world.

The sound system in the church is based on two of our VIDA M220 systems. Thanks to their advanced beam steering technology, these speakers precisely direct sound energy towards the audience and minimize the acoustic stimulation of the room. This ensures outstanding speech intelligibility despite the enormous size of the cathedral. In addition, the VIDA systems are visually extremely inconspicuous and fit perfectly into the historical architecture.

The cathedral’s choir room is provided with K&F E90 and VIDA M110 loudspeakers, which also ensure an even distribution of sound there.

The overall system not only offers good speech intelligibility in this acoustically challenging environment, but also meets the highest sound requirements – even for musical performances.

St. Blasien Cathedral has been inspiring for centuries with its architectural beauty and excellent acoustics, which are now complemented by modern sound technology from Kling & Freitag.
